After the completely rapturous ovation to Theotime Langlois de Swarte’s Center debut, we knew we had to bring the violin sensation back as quickly as possible. So we are thrilled to announce that not only is he returning – but that he is returning and bringing with him Les Arts Florissants!
While still at the incredibly young age of 28, Theotime has quickly become one of today’s most sought-after violin soloists. Theotime’s almost super-human dexterity on both the baroque and modern instrument has mesmerized critics, while his passion, conviction, and dashing looks has made him a major star with Millennials and Gen Z!
Theotime will be joined by Les Arts Florissants, one of the most renowned and respected early music groups in Europe and around the world. (Theotime was actually a regular member of Les Arts Florissant in 2014 while he was still a student.) Dedicated to the performance of Baroque music on original instruments, the ensemble was founded in 1979 by the Franco-American harpsichordist/conductor William Christie and takes its name from a short opera by Marc-Antoine Charpentier.
Together, there will be a grand total of 16 instrumentalists on stage in our intimate Samueli Theater. Highlighting this program will be Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, one of the greatest violin concertos of all time and one of the best-selling classical works ever.
With Theotime Langlois de Swarte and Les Arts Florissants reuniting to perform Vivaldi, this exuberant and exquisite chamber music concert is sure to be one of the biggest cultural events of this, or any, season!
